SAP Asia Pacific Japan Reports Best Ever Performance in 2011 With 32% Software Revenue Growth

Innovation strategy winning with customers; continued hiring to drive SAP APJ’s growth

Singapore – February 02, 2012 – SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) today announced its best ever performance in 40 years, with a 32% growth in Software Revenue at constant currencies (to €722 million) in the full year ended December 31, 2011.

Steve Watts, President, SAP Asia Pacific Japan, said: “2011 was our best ever performance in history, and Q4 2011 was also our 8th consecutive quarter of double-digit growth – this once again reinforced our role as SAP’s global growth engine. Across the region, our key markets of China, India and Japan led the pack with robust double-digit growth, while every market in the region performed well.

“Our breakthrough innovations in mobility, cloud and in-memory computing (SAP HANA), in particular, continue to be welcomed by our customers, with nearly 10% of our Software Revenue in Q4 2011 coming from HANA and Analytics. Our positive results clearly show that SAP’s growth strategy based on customer-centric innovation is winning, and we see strong demand and pipelines for SAP’s innovations in 2012.”

In Q4 2011, SAP APJ’s Software Revenue grew 26%, to €289 million. Software and Software Related Services Revenue grew 21% to €601 million, while Total Revenue saw a corresponding 20% growth to €690 million.

For the twelve months ended December 31, 2011, SAP APJ grew Software and Software Related Services Revenue by 22% (to €1,813 million) and Total Revenue by 20% (to €2,128 million). The SAP Group’s full-year 2011 Non-IFRS Software and Software Related Services Revenue exceeded revenue guidance, with an increase of 15% (17% at constant currencies). All growth figures shown above are expressed in Non-IFRS constant currency terms and are measured against the previous comparable period.

“As we continue to grow across the region, we are investing aggressively in the attraction, development and retention of top talent. In China, in particular, we are looking to hire more than 1,500 employees as we open another six new offices to drive our strategic investment in the Chinese market,” said Watts.

What SAP skills are in demand in 2012?

The SAP consultants with the skills of SAP BPC, SAP/BOBJ BI, SAP Mobility, SAP HANA, SAP CRM & SAP Industry Solutions (IS OIL) will be hired more this year. Whether a global enterprise, a mid-market, a small business or a government organization, to compete with its counter partners, it should bring up an operational excellence, sustainable growth and a clear-cut competitive advantage in its blue print. It is very difficult for business enterprises to sustain without a SAP module in their business management.

To be a better paid SAP professional, you have to find your career in aerospace or defense, professional services, healthcare or financial services. The SAP career in public sector, education, retail or communications will not help you to earn more comparing to the other opportunities. “IT professionals with knowledge of SAP HANA in-memory databases will get more opportunities on 2012,” the Co-Founder and CEO of Foote Partners LLC and one of the most quoted industry analysts on IT labor and IT-Business management issues, David Foote revealed in his interview with Dice News.

Google+, Make it or Break it

Launched only a few months ago, Google+ is the fastest-growing social network in history, amassing nearly 60 million users in record time. Google+ enables users to easily maintain both their personal and professional lives in one place. The simple interface and continually growing community will attract a large number of recruiters and company pages. Combined with its unique Hangout and Circles features, Google+ will present serious competition for Facebook. The Hangout feature taps into the already growing trend towards video interviewing remote candidates, while Circles allows recruiters to message specific influencers and candidates. From one page, companies can selectively ask alumni for referrals, invite local candidates to career events and publish internal job openings only to current employees. Relevant content greatly enhances user experience. If Google+ grows to 400 million users by the end of 2012, it has a decent shot at becoming the dominant social network.
